Photo Editing

Assignment: Photo Editing

Classroom Uses: In a math classroom teachers could use the crop tool to demonstrate ratios. As a teaching tool, photo editing with the crop tool gives students not only a visual example of how to use ratios but also gives them an opportunity to see how ratios are used in the "real world."

Students could also be given assignments that require them to apply the concepts of ratio or dilation by using the crop tool. This would provide students a hands on experience with either ratios or dilations

Issues to Consider: Students would need access to photo editing software and may need instruction of how to use such software. Online editing software requires Adobe flash.

InfoGraphic

Assignment: Infographic

Classroom Uses: Students can make there own infographic to show math problem solving steps or relationship of different math terms.

Issues to Consider: If students have not made an infographic before they will need time to be trained. I was very frustrated using easel.ly. It was difficult to move, enlarge different text boxes and graphics that were close together.Students need to be reminded that content is more important than bells and whistles.
